Gather nuts and bolts for the youngest of engineers to tinker with at home!

Our subscribers with kids ages 5-10 received our newest Discovery Box this month with the theme of Engineering. This fun nuts and bolts activity is a great way to get younger siblings in on the action! If you haven’t heard the great news, we’ve expanded our box subscriptions to include boxes for kids ages 2-4. These Junior Discovery Boxes are perfect for younger scientists in-the-making and feature age appropriate S.T.E.A.M. projects.

Nuts and Bolts Engineering for Toddlers

This activity is about as simple as it gets for set up. Go through your tool box, mason jars and junk drawer to gather as many nuts and bolts as you can find and put them in a bowl. Make sure there are matching sizes, so kids can fit them together like puzzles. You can also include keys and locks in your nuts and bolts play.

Keep the nuts and bolts in a bowl or dump them on a table and let your child tinker away!
